So it turns out America is still the colonies. At least when it comes to network TV series concepts. The real power resides back in Britain.
--Dianne Werts on the Brilliant But Cancelled website
Werts tries to argue that the UK is the real source of inspiration for American television. Her chief examples: Life on Mars, Worst Week, Eleventh Hour.
Well . . . sitcoms, maybe; reality show, definitely. But drama?
Dexter, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, True Blood, Pushing Daisies, Fringe, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chroicles, Heroes, Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Reaper, Chuck, Californication, Prison Break, Bones, Weeds, the CSI franchise, 24, House . . . (to name only a few series currently on the air)--are any of these UK inspired?
