Sholem Aleichem

This story about Sholem Aleichem on All Things Considered on NPR was very interesting. I learned that the man who wrote the stories that inspired Fiddler on the Roof hated the rich and that the lyrics of "If I Were a Rich Man" would have him rolling over in his grave. Listen to it here.

It includes interviews with Tony Kushner and Aleichem's granddaughter Bel Kaufman, author of Up the Down Staircase, now in her 90s.
